Trained staff and volunteers answer the crisis hotlines. The first priority is the safety of the survivor. Staff will actively listen to the victim and gather information as it is reported. They will assess the needs of the caller as this information is received and will offer safety planning tips, agency services including emergency shelter and advocacy, and information and referrals for emergency services and local social service agencies.
